The Difference between No Show Socks and Crew Socks

As people become more aware of the usefulness of socks their popularity continues to increase. The demand for these items is so great that manufacturers are always coming up with variations to meet the needs of the consumers. There are now several different types on the market with each one geared towards a specific purpose. For example there are no show socks and crew socks which are very different but both have their place.

As the name suggests, no show socks cannot be seen over the top of the shoes. They just cover the foot and do not extend any further up the leg. Crew socks on the other hand, cover the foot and extend all the way up to the mid-calf area. As a result of this no show socks are great in hot weather but not a good choice to wear in cold conditions as they do not provide any warmth to the ankles and legs. Crew socks will keep the feet and legs warm since they provide more coverage.

When attending a formal function, men usually wear their dress socks in a color that is the same as or very close to the color of their dress pants or suit. Most dress socks are crew socks because they are the perfect length for wearing with long pants. No-show socks however, are not suitable for such occasions because the bare-leg look that these socks create is not a look associated with formal events.

Crew socks can be purchased in several different designs, colors and patterns. All of these can be coordinated with your outfits or paired with specific clothing items for a very trendy look. No show socks also come in many colors and patterns but it is not necessary to match them to clothing since they cannot be seen and so it really does not matter. Whether you wear no show socks or crew socks depends on where you will be going and the type of weather conditions that you encounter.
