Buying Something Cool Like Snap Back Hats for Your Nephew
So your nephew’s birthday is coming up and you want to get him something cool for his birthday. He is no longer in the playing with toys stage but isn’t a college student yet either. That’s right he’s a teenager. Buying a present for a teenager is like trying to figure out a new haircut. They all sound like a good idea but most of them will not be. The same holds true when buying presents for a teenager. Unless your close to their age it’s really hard to figure out what is cool today. Here are a few suggestions I have that can help.
Use Your Informants
Hopefully they have a brother or sister that really knows what they are into. If they do then this is a great source of ideas on what to get your nephew. Just make sure you aren’t asking a 5 year old what her 16 year old brother might like. You will probably get some weird and funny answers. I have a 17 year old nephew who has an 18 year old brother. It was easy, I just asked his 18 year old brother what my nephew might like and I learned he was into snap back hats. He specifically was into all things monster so I looked at monster energy hats and found one I thought he might like. Sure enough he did because I saw him wearing it the next time the family got together. Nothing feels better than knowing your present was a success.
Universal Options
Not everyone however will have the luxury of another family member to help out with ideas. That’s alright there’s still hope. Don’t just guess though and buy them anything especially clothes. Teenagers tastes change too often and unless you are 100% sure it’s really hard to buy the right clothes for a teenager. Although a boy may be a bit easier it’s still hard if you’re not sure. One thing boys do like though is video games. Ask your brother or sister if they have a gaming console and what types of games he likes playing. If they aren’t sure what types he likes have them read off the ones that he has, mainly the one that’s in the system. This way you can take the list to the store and ask a sales clerk which games might match. If your nephew is into sports then something involving the sport he plays is an excellent choice too. If you live in a city where there are pro sports teams, then game tickets are always a good choice.
Now if all else fails and you just can’t think of anything go with what will work every time. What might that be well MONEY naturally. It may not be the flashiest present, but for teenagers, a little money goes a long way. This way they can buy what they want, or save it up for something later.
So don’t fret over finding the right gift for your nephew. Use the tools at your disposal and I guarantee you will come up with the right gift.
